About this event
Where Are the Women in AI? And Why Should You Care?
When women hold only 12% of AI research positions and 18% of startup leadership roles, we’re not just facing a fairness issue—we’re facing an innovation crisis. This panel brings together diverse voices to tackle the hard questions: What’s holding women back? What works to move the needle? And how do we turn awareness into action?
AI will shape the next decade of innovation, regulation, and economic opportunity. So why do women make up less than a quarter of the field? This panel tackles the uncomfortable truths about gender gaps in tech, explores what’s at stake when AI is built without diverse perspectives, and shares actionable strategies for individuals, organizations, and policymakers ready to be part of the solution.
Mao Márquez-Nikrmajer is Co-Founder of Fem AI Lab, a community focused on education, practical workshops, and collaboration with experts to make AI accessible, actionable, and empowering for women and girls.
A Certified Life and Transformational Coach with a decade of experience running a digital marketing agency in Latin America, working with international brands in beauty, sports, and tourism, she brings a unique entrepreneurial lens to the intersection of technology and human potential.
Mao believes AI is not just a technical tool, but a catalyst for women’s economic empowerment and professional transformation when we have a seat at the table shaping it. Passionate about collaboration and empowerment, she is committed to building an AI future shaped by diverse voices.
Speed-dating
⚠️ Speed-dating starts at 7 PM. Each month investors and mentors provide four exclusive 10-minute slots for startups. These sessions allow startups to pitch their ideas, discuss their business models, and explore potential partnerships or investment opportunities. Startups can select the investor or mentor they want to meet based on their expertise or focus area.
‼️We strongly recommend preparing ahead of time before booking to make the most of these 10 minutes. ‼️ Research the investor or mentor you want to meet with, understand their portfolio, and learn about their areas of interest. This preparation will help you tailor your pitch and maximize the value of the meeting. Remember, this could be a life-changing opportunity, so use the time wisely! Please note that meetings may be canceled if the fit is not suitable for the mentor/investor.
